OK, I tried using windows to install it and the closest I could get is using a bunch of preset driver choices. When i did this before an option was there for a x-fi card (this was after I did the the creative self intallation thing), but this time (before doing creative's self installation), there was no option for it. Still, any help would be great.

You'd be surprised but the XtremeMusic card is made to not work as well as the other X-Fis with games (hence why it's called XtremeMusic), uncheck the "X-Fi" boxes in Bf2/2142 and you'll see it works better. The reason is because the XtremeMusic card does not actually support those features, only the XtremeGamer and above do, also set the sound quality to High, and not Ultra-High. It's not a gaming card, many people can tell you this, you can check reviews off Newegg even.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you. If this card wasn't also intended for use with games, they wouldn't have made such an elaborate display of its gaming mode directly on the box. I'm looking at the box right now, and it hypes its "Xtreme Fidelity Games". Not only that, but it comes with a Doom 3 EAX patch and has sticker being "recommended by ID software for Quake 4." I understand your point regarding the more 'gaming-related' x-fi cards, but trust me, this one has many of the same intentions. I just wish it were fixed.
