Default [Pending] Soundcard IRQ.

Hi all.

i'm sick of in-game BSOD due to soundcard problems, ive been told this could be caused by my soundcard sharing the same IRQ as another device

From Device manager, its sharing IRQ 21 with a "texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller". I dont have much of an idea what this is, so i cannot be using it.....would changing the IRQ make any difference?. also, if changing the IRQ is worthwhile, what should i change it to and why? (i was thinking 20, as nothing else uses it. but i have no knowledge in this area....cept what Wikipedia's told me :P)

Thanks very much . if you need my computer's specs. please click the arrow pointing down next to "My PC" to the right of my avatar.

Default Re: Soundcard IRQ.

Heya Thingamajig,

Have you tried moving your sound card to another PCI slot? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?

Can you post what the BSOD is saying? Can you try to get it to BSOD again then check your event viewer error and show me the what the event ID number is and the source?

To check event viewer, right click on my computer, then click manage, then click event viewer, then click system, then look for the error log that matches the same time as the BSOD. Give me the number in the event column, and the name in the source column.

Let's go from there
