Default X-Fi Fatality Front Bay - Frustrated :)

Greetings!

I have a SB X-Fi "Fatal1ty" sound card. I cannot get the front bay to work on Vista or XP. Currently on XP, seemingly hooked-up correctly.....Using drivers "SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_09_0007" . Anyone have a X-fi Fatality that has their front bay working?

I have a synthesizer that i want to use for recording via almost any of those front bay ports. Too bad I can't get any part of the front bay to work correctly. Let me know if you have any advice, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks!

Douglas

The next ? ... I still use the original Audigy Platinum External (has a place to hook all your synths/firewire etc that uses a CD bay in the case) so I can't help on that 'un. .. only thing I would think is that you double check all the connections from the bay to the Motherboard/Sound Card itself.
------------------
See my post to your other questions as well on the first post you made.
BTW ... Vista is known for 'selectively blocking' things...like sound boards/synths/sound channels for a network/ etc. etc. {Personally; I say stay permantly with XP PRO as it doesn't try to block any old synths/RF Boards etc etc. {My Opinion}
... I think your problem tho is that you have something hooked up wrong on the bay-to-MB-SC-itself. If you are sure; then reinstall the original drivers of the CD that came with the Creative SB. Hope I shed a tiny bit of light that may or might not work.

Hey, thanks for trying to help!

Well it seems to be hooked-up correctly... The weird ribbon cable used is in correctly, and the front bay has power applied to it. I only used the previous driver to install it.

If all is hooked up right; then it might be a driver situation. Check out creatives web site for the latest drivers as this seems next in line...if at anything...your headseat earphones should work through the CD bay external. ... hmm. ... ... if all else fails...well; i know vista has blocked some people i know's sound boards for a radio network...but you said XP also does it. If you are using a ' shady ' version of xp then any add-on updates/sp2 etc will 'learn' that and randomly mess with ye.
Hope it helps...pc's can be a real pain in thuh...you know.

thanks for trying, Eathan. Well...I'm using a legitmate Winxp 32 sp2 fully updated thing. Im using the beforementioned drivers, alone. I checked all my cables and they are in correctly.

Did you use the CD it came with first then update the drivers?

I just installed via the beforementioned drivers, "SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_09_0007", alone, by themselves. Any ideas?

Originally I used the CD that came with it but I accidently stepped on it. It can mostly read it but it doesn't load everything right. Even still, the front bay works fine. It might be that your mother board cannot recognize it for some unknown to me reason. The only thing I noticed about not having the full version of the drivers is that certain games like FABLE won't load because it is microsoft and requires certain sound cards & you have to have the updates. Turns out that I can't use the driver updates because it says I don't have the Sound card I have since the drivers can't be completely installed, so it won't update with the most current drivers. At any rate, all ports work fine on the front CD bay.
