What system do you have? Sound card?

Based on my experience you will be looking for a sound control panel (probably a utility that came installed with the sound card) that lets you setup 5.1 surround etc. Often in there is a setting for swap left and right but I wouldnt know without some more details about what system you have and whether its a sound card or onboard so we can work out what software you have.
