Sound etc - Can't here adio of DVD's, but i can here CD's posted in the Hardware forums; Im trying to set up my 5.1 suround using the three plugs on my computer, so i went to get a dvd ready to play before i switch it out ...

Default Can't here adio of DVD's, but i can here CD's

Im trying to set up my 5.1 suround using the three plugs on my computer, so i went to get a dvd ready to play before i switch it out to see if my new configuration is worth it. Any why i went to go play the dvd in windows media and i could see it but no sound, no i select an mp3 or cd and its fine i can here it.

SO your saying if you put a audio cd in the same drive as you were playing the dvd in you get sound?

yes this is vary odd i have no clue why since it worked minutes before i tryed rewireing thinngs.

Some older PC's have an audio line that runs from the cd/dvd rom to the soundcard/mainboard but if this was the problem I think you would have no sound from the cd/dvd rom what type of PC is it? Also double click your speaker near the time and see if somthing in there is stoping it you can disable things there via tick boxes.

Heres instructions on how to install the cd/dvd drive with that audio line I mentioned

Well i tryed it agin today and still nothing. Im still asuming it is a software issue since i have hot been inside my case for a few weeks and it was just working minutes before i had tiss problum. My computer is built by me so there is no one brand. Also im using the built in sound card.
