Default sound stutters

Please help! I have recently started having problems with my pc sound skipping while working with other programs. It seems to have started when I upgraded to IE 7, But when I try to remove it all I get is a error saying the handle is invalid. I have also noticed when my cpu usage spikes up to 100% everything starts skipping.

Hi Reptilebro,

Welcome to PCHF!

Did you try to remove IE7 or your sound drivers. Have you installed the most recent drivers for your soundcard? If you need a hand with that just let us know what kind of card you got and we'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Ok, you may not want to remove IE7, though i don't really use it, I'm not sure though just how integrated into Xp it is (as with IE6 in XP). How about sound drivers, what sound card do you you have? Is it onboard? Do you have the most recent drivers for it? have you tried re-installing IE7?
