every sound card i have ever had in my life has isntalled automatically by rebooting and/or come with a CD.

Welcome to PChelp forum.

It sounds like you have an onboard soundcard. Is Your PC a name brand and does it have a model number? If so is there a CD that came with it that says something to the effect of Motherboard or Chipset Drivers?

my p.c is a imedia MC 1538 with the standard motherboard byuilt in sound card i think.
