Default Acer Travelmate 8200 Notebook, sound stuttering

Hey all, I recently bought an Acer Travelmate 8200 and it was going fine until one day I was randomly playing a song and the sounds started stuttering (like a 1 second stutter) every few seconds. That obviously takes away any ability I have to enjoy songs or movies. At first I thought it was just windows media player, but I reinstalled that, winamp, and then my sound drivers and the problem persists. Another thing that tipped me off it wasnt just a program, was that even windows system sounds stutter (like when you boot up and it plays that tune.) The problem also still happens with headphones plugged in. I am good with computers I just have no technical backround with sound issues. The only thing I can think of now is that it overheated (I accidentally eft it on for a few days and it gets very hot) and somehow damaged my soundcard/other hardware.

Any help would be appreciate and thanks in advance.

Welcome to PCHF jpf18!

Did you try the latest sound drivers for it?

Chris

It is an integraded sound card so it is sort of difficult to find drivers for it. I just download one off acer's website and installed it and nothing new happened with the sound.

OK if you follow these steps it may help:

1. Start
2. Run
3. type in dxdiag
4. go on the sound tab
5. make sure hardware acceleration is set to full
6. test directsound

It was already set on full acceleration and when I tested the sound it would work, but randomly it would stutter in a few tests, then I'd do it again and it wouldn't ever. I repeated this over and over and got the same result.

OK I dont have any further steps at the moment. A member of our tech team will most likely pop along shortly. If not I will PM one for you.
