Well I just tryed a DVD and it worked perfectly, same with a cd.

Mp3 has problems, wav's do too, as well as a lot of online media (ie. youtube video audio skips) and like I said the windows default sounds (even the beeps, and start up type things)

Can you try downloading and using the following codec pack: Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals

and see if this resolves your problem.

I have windows XP installed, which isn't supported in those codec packs.

Installed the 6.4 and nothing new happened after restart. Still have the problems.
