Default [Answered] Xfi game settings

Hi all, wondering if anyone can please help me out, i brought an Xfi a few weeks ago and i mainly play bf2142 with headphones but im unsure which settings to use for example if i have EAX enabled in game do i also need it enabled in the gamemode menu settings? or does enabling it in both locations cause it to be run twice? or if i disable it in the gamemode menu does it turn it off in the game regardless of the game settings? also the eax is set to 0.0 db default settings does this mean its off? if so what would you surgest i set it to?

im not to worried about performance to much, im more concerned about the actual sound quality because atm using headphones it sounds extremly strange but maybe thats just because ive been using a audigy 2 for the last few years.A friend told me i should run use audio creation mode for everything and turn bit matched on which basicly disables the EQ, Crystalizer and Svm but like i say im not to fussed on game performance i just want the best quality settings.

For now im going to use gaming mode 3d cmss enabled eax enabled and everything else disabled and for mp3s etc audio creation mode with bit matched enabled

Also why im here what does Mic Environment Fx actually do?

Thanks for any help in advance

Hi Fubsy,

Im sorry it has taken so long for a reply. Im unsure on this question as i have never used an Xfi, but one of our tech team members may have done. I have sent a PM to a tech team member to help you.

Hi Fusby,

I also have never used the XFI and i don't ever plan on doing so. I personally thing this "gaming" and "music" branded sound cards are a waste of effort...the audigy 4 is better IMHO.

However...EAX should be set in the game...and no other settings needs to be altered.
Mic Enviroment Fx will just add sound effects to your Mic input...so you can make it sound like you're in a big emtpy hall...or at a live concert...or whatever the options are

Hope this helps.

Hi GaRHaR

I kind of share ur thoughts on the xfi but the main reason i brought the xfi was because i thought it might give me abit of a fps boost in some of the online games i play, however i really honistly cant say that its really any better than the audigy 2 sound quality wise also the fact i have to change mode depending on what im doing can be a pain..

Thanks for answering my mic question tho

No worries.

There is a quality difference, but only if you're not listening to mp3s or game sound
