ok...so disablign the sound card...and reenabling it again detects new hardware?
Interesting...

Can you goto Start -> Run -> devmgmt.msc and tell me what is under Sound, video and game controllers

Hey dom,

When you downloaded the drivers that Uppy provided, you extracted them to a folder?

When you see "Found New Hardware" wizard appear, select the option Install from specific location - Next, Tick Include this location in the search, and click on Browse. Then select the location of where you extracted the files to, and follow the wizard to the end.

If you really do have problems onboard, and no space for any more cards, you can get USB sound devices such as USB Virtual 5.1 Channel Sound Adapter with MIC Input USBG-SV5 LOW PRICE $19.98

Did your friend actually have the sound working?

But try them steps madmonkey gave you.

Dom-- I am on the page at Driverguide that lists every driver they have for this setup. I need to know what OS you are running --XP/ME/98 ?

I can download/send em all to you to try... there are several drivers that could affect the sound-on-board you have.
