Default [Resolved] No Sound From Websites or Windows start up tune???

Hi GUys

The problem i am having is that when i'm on sites, for instance videojug or you tube I can watch the clips but i get no sound.

I have tried watching using IE7 and Firefox with the same results.

I have the version 2.81 of the K-Lite codec pack installed so have the most recent codecs just can't figure out what the problem is.

Oh, by the way, I get sound when playing cd's in the drives amd from off my harddrive. dvd's are also okay with sound playback.

I have also installed the latest drivers for my sound card which is a realtek ac97 on board by the way. I also do not get any other misc. sounds like pop up warning sounds, windows start up tune etc.

Cheers

Justin.

Hi mifty,

sounds like you have the wrong codec's installed.

Please can you download Windows Codec pak from here: Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals

Hi Madmonkey,

I have installed the drivers from the link you posted and they haven't made any difference. Tried uninstalling realplayer to see if that made any difference but it didn't, one other thing thing I don't get any warning sounds from the pc.

OK, what sounds can you hear? (.mp3's, .wav's, DVD's e.t.c)?

Thanks for the help.

I've just done a system restore which has solved the problem.

No problems mift, it's a shame we didn't find what actually cased this problem, to stop it from happening again.

You could always come back!

Will mark this on as resolved.
