Default [Fixed] Microphone not working

Hello everyone.

Alrighty, so I bought a new mic today for recording, plug it in, not working. Just a few months ago the mic was working though(another mic). I tried plugging another mic in, not working either. Sooo, I assume it's the computer?

Specs:
Qosmio G25-AV513. WinXP
Specs here- Toshiba Qosmio G25-AV513 Specs. Laptops Specifications.

Not too sure what to do? Do I need to update drivers? No clue. Any help would be appreciated, I need to get the mic working to record some music tomorrow, eeek.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to PCHF echohype!

Are you sure the volume is up on the computer for the mic?

Heya. Thanks for the welcome.

I am most certain that the volume for the mic is up. In the recording/volume control thingie it's all the way up for microphone and line-in. Ughh

Yes, in the dropdown box it has "SoundMAX Digital Audio" selected. I assume that is how it is supposed to be. There are no other options.

Not to insult your intelligence, it sounds like youve used the mic before, but in Recording control, is the box checked under mic? I think thats default, but i forget to change mine back sometimes when ive moved it.
