Motherboard Name MSI MS-6378. I did download the software recommended but still it's not working. I have tested sound using external mic and also the one in my monitor, which is an HP pavilion mx70. It's really annoying as I'd love to use voice recognition software that types when you dictate. Thanks for answers so far.

Do You have any front panel audio connectors?
If you do try the mic jack for there.
If you do not, check that the pins on the board near the bottom right (as you are looking at the board with the power supply on the top left corner)
The set of pins are marked "JAUD2" should have the third and last pair jumpered.
