HI
My name is mary and i'm new to this site. I am having a problem. I deleted some stuff yesterday and I do not have an audio device. What can I do to restore volume. Apparently I deleted something I shouldn;t have? Help! Obviouslly, I am a novice when it comes to this stuff. Thanks, Mary

You have probably deleted the drivers for your audio.

What make and model is your computer?

Hello Mary,

Welcome to PCHF.

- Go to My Computer, Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices
- In the Volume tab, click on Advanced, and make sure "Wave" and "Master Volume" is on high and nothing is muted.
- In the Audio tab, make sure you have selected an appropriate default device.
- Back to Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager.
- Make sure there are no exclaimation marks agains any of your devices listed here. If you find any, right click and uninstall. Then go to the top of the list where you will see your computer name above "Computer". Right click and Scan for Hardware Changes.

Failing this, do you have any idea what you deleted? (Sorry Upgrader, didn't realise you posted)

do you have a soundcard or is it onboard sound? you may need to reinstall drivers.

Have you tried what madmonkey suggested?
