Angry [Fixed]NO SOUND.. and its drivin me bonkers!!

Hey everyone..

Really hoping someone can help me here.. mate has gone away for a week and i am tasked with getting his pc up and running again, re installing everything after a reformat etc.. have done absolutely everything except for some reason i cant get any sound to work.. nada.. not even windows sound.
So, i have checked the obvious, all plugged in, powered on, jacks into correct ports on the sound card.. nothing. He has a Dell inspiron 9100 and the posh 5.1 digital sound system as an add on.. Prior to the re format everything worked fine, and he did say that the other day he had sound post reformat.. so even more confusing.
Has a Creative Sound Blaster 24bit sound card etc.. all been installed properly from the installation cd... and everything comes up fine, the mixer, creative audio centre bla bla.. did the diognostic check within SB and everything passed no problem.
Have been into device manager and sure enough SB live 24bit is selected on everything, and "use this device" is selected, and NO yellow exclamation marks..
Have read other threads and checked what to do in cases of no sound, and all settings are correct.. any ideas??? Pc and speakers are about a year old...
Any help would be greatly appreciated, cos its doing my head in with no tunes lol

Ta.

Welcome again.

Does he have an onboard sound card? Has it been disabled in the BIOS?

Thanks for that.. i think it is a bit silly though to check that box by default.. how many people do have only digital sound? dunno, maybe i am getting old lol..

Hmm...it is odd that the box is checked by default.
I've got an audigy2, and the first tiem i ever isntalled it...it was checked, but after that...it's never come back.

Oh wells, kudos to you!
