Exclamation Crackly/Distorted Sound

i have a packard bell imedia 1404 and i have recently been experiencing problems with the sound on my computer.

it comes out all crackly and distorted. i can even hear this noise when no sounds are actually being played. I don't think it is the speakers because they worked fine in another computer and i still hear it with headphones plugged into my computer.

Please can someone help thanks in advance, upgrader764

p.s. i could upload a sound file recording of it if this is allowed if so how can i?

Default Crackles

Probably something that you have already checked... but the drivers? Latest versions... also.. sometimes when sounds go south of where they should be, best thing I have have found yet, if you have the patience, is to uninstall all sound drivers that you have.. yes.. that means everything... many of you have more than one thing running or available... then re-install the most basic one, whatever that happens to be for you. Not a lot of fun to do, but it has always worked for me.
Just a thought.
