My sound keeps flickering (muting) it does not stop. I have on-board AC'97 on a new Celeron 2.8 GHZ, 768 MB ram. The problem is getting worse. There seems to be no conflict with the hardware. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. The speakers are properly connected. The volume control shows that it keeps flashing mute. The troubleshooter does not come close to this problem. I am going to try to update the bios, besides that I think i've tried everything.

Have you checked for any newer drivers?
Also, is there anything you think could be causing this?
