OK, in that case, I am out of ideas. I may be to "old school" for this one. I PMd Joe5, he will be checking in on this one soon.

I am REALLY interested in knowing how this one gets resolved.

Does this apply for you?

When you are listening to audio over Universal Serial Bus (USB) speakers, you may hear a pop. This may occur from every few seconds to every few minutes.
If yes , try this patch here:

Also if you use a head set , do you get the pops aswell?

I checked with Logitech's support site... they say it's the sound card. While this card is not as 'pricey' as a Sound Blaster or Turtle Beach-- it is supposed to be a good quality card. I wanted to try something different. The problem sound rises and falls with the volume of the sound card. The sound card manufacturers' site suggests a digital or coax connection to the speakers in order to use the "internal 5.1 processor"

I tried downloading/installing that old windows update... a dialog popped up suggesting that the files I was installing were older than the files I had. I didn't really see how I wouldn't have the proper updates... I am RELIGIOUS about updating my PC.

As i said, BOTH of these hardware pieces are brand-new-- both to me--and EACH OTHER. There may be a stupid 'tweak that solves this problem-- I may try the cable upgrade as well. I just wanted to know if anyone out there had experienced it already...

There is also the factor the these are an upgraded model of another Logitech Speaker system-- the driver version is 1.0 -- they are THAT new. The set that preceded them got RAVE reviews, but as with any driver-- there may be issues with a particular config that just haven't shown up yet... I just "got lucky" maybe
