Default [Resolved] sound card not working...

hey guys, i just got the Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro. My sound basically works fine, however, I cannot get the external console part of the card to work. I don't even have a clue as to where to start to troubleshoot this thing. Any ideas?

Thanks.

 Hey D4z3d, we have really got to find something easier to type to call you. LOL

Are you getting any response at all? I know this is a dumb one, but have you rechecked your cables to make sure that they are installed properly? That's the usual culprit. If they are, just try disconnecting and reconnecting so we can rule that out right off the top.

Looking forward to your reply,

hey ladygreenwitch,

yeah, it's definitely hooked up properly. i have tried unhooking it and rehooking it back up. maybe i need to uninstall the drivers and all the software, reboot, and then reinstall everything? this is such a pain in the ****. heh.

and well, i guess you could just simplify my name to Dazed. heh.

Hey Dazed, (thank you for that, some folks are awfully attached to their screennames. LOL)

OK, good thinking, but before you go through all of that, what exactly is the console supposed to support? Headsets and mics? Game interface? It may be as simple as your settings under sound and audio, I know when I changed cards it took me a while to get those right. Also, are you sure that your computer is not looking for the old sound card in regards to the external console functions?

Look forward to your reply,

Basically this console has everything on it. lol. its got a headphone plug, two line ins, phono in, din, midi in/out, optical in/out, and spdif in/out. pretty much anything you could possibly need. heh. and no, it couldn't possibly be looking for the old card cause there never was one. i just built this computer from scratch the other day.

 OK, but ya gotta ask these things.

In that case, You are going to have to do the un/reinstall route, sorry. That will at least tell you if it is the drivers, is there a possibility that the card is damaged?

Let us know how the un/reinstall works I'll check in on your thread tomorrow. Perhaps in the meantime one of our resident hardware gurus will be back online and have some new takes.

Have to sign off now. If that works, we still want to hear from you.

Look forward to your next post.
