Default Sound level bar ? Where has it gone

When I adjust the sound level (up/down/mute) from the keyboard, I used to get a small display in the bottom right hand side of the screen for about 5 secs which showed what level the sound was set to. It has now disappeared. I want to reapply it.

Annoyingly I now need to double click on the sound icon to call up the sound level bars to see what level it is set to.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100. Dell support is useless & have told me to do a reinstall to see if that works. That?s a bit excessive IMO.

Welcome to the forum Muddock.

Did you check that the sound icon display is still enabled?

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties > Place Volume Icon in the Taskbar

Is your sound working ok generally?

The icon is selected. I will try again tonight selecting & reselcting the option. The sound is working fine other than the sound display icon not appearing (for 5 secs) anymore. The sound icon displays in the tray at the bottom fine.

The icon is selected but still the small display does not show. The tray icon still works fine along with the sound.
Any ideas?
