OK this is the short version

i know this girl, she has somehow dis-lodged the sound card in her dads pc, opened it up and now put it back in (apperently). But it still doesnt work there is no sound devices found.

I would try a few things. Firstly, try updating the drivers/reinstalling them. If that doesnt work,make sure that she really did put it back in correctly. If none of that works, try another PCI Slot, as the one she put it back into may not work anymore.

It sounds like it wasnt installed correctly to begin with. I'd try using a completely different PCI Slot (if available) and see if that fixes the problem.
