Default speaker problems, obviously

Here's what I wrote in my introductory post:
I have the 4 surround sound speakers w/ subwoofer (which all work fine), it's the clip-on monitor speaker bar that screws up. The volume knob is funky. When I try to turn it up sometimes it'll go up, then fade down, and I have to toy with the knob to get it to the right volume. It's annoying, and any help would be appreciated.

Any ideas without completely changing this brand new speaker system?

hello coppin, welcome to PCHF

what type of speakers do you have? i've had trouble like that with logitech speakers before. if its the knobs then the problem is usually i short in the wires. only way i've been able to solve that is sending into the manufacturer and if they are under warrenty then it wont cost you anything.
