Default [Fixed] Sound Speed Too Fast!

The sound on my pc is too fast!! Whether listening to a cd playing within the cd drive or listening to a music or video clip on Windows Media Player or Real Player, the sound plays at double the normal speed!

Does anyone know if there is an easy fix to this? I'm on Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to PCHF Bennyboy.

I have encountered this problem before and it was due to a file that was running in my task manager which was being run by my video editing software.
  • Try to open your task manager and close any programs that you don't require, if you are unsure then post a screenshot and we will be able to tell you.
  • Can you try updating your sound card drivers
  • Do you have any video editing software installed on your pc?

Default Sound Speed

Hi, thanks for looking into this.
Is there any particular process that might affect the sound speed that I can close?

I'm using an AC'97 Sound Card....I'll look into updating this if I can.

Afraid I don't know the names of specific processes, just have a look at all the processes running in your name and see whether you recognise any of them.
If some relate to sound/video then try ending them.

Default Sound Speed Problem Resolved

Zimbo....thanks for your help. I have managed to resolve the problem...

My pc was using a Realtek AC97 sound card device. I have unistalled this and now it is using a SoundMax Digital Audio device instead which does the trick!

Ciao! Ben...:hello2:
