You can also make a manuall backup before running it if you want:

Please go to:
start > run
and type this in:
regedit

Then click on the FILE menu and select export
Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.

IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

 Yes Rachel, please follow Joe's instructions, you will definitely want a backup before doing any cleaning of your registry, as a precaution. Then follow the remaining instructions for running the Registry Cleaner in RegSupremePro.

Look forward to your repy,

Okay, RegSupremePro did have a backup option after all, it asked for it after the scan finished. I did allow it to make the changes, but, still no sound

:cheesy: OK Rachel, now understand that I am in no way inpuning your skills with your computer, but sometimes it is the dumbest stuff that confounds one when fixing computer problems.

Have you checked the connections on your speakers to make sure that they are secure? Have you disconnected and reconnected your sound card if you have one?

Have you checked all of your volume controls?

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Well, my PC is a laptop, so I would have no idea if they are disconnected or not The thing is, I have sound in external programs like iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc. However, I just don't get any Windows systems sounds, like when it starts up, error alerts, etc. Also, the buttons on the side of my laptop that are used to control the volume don't work at all anymore.

:cheesy: OK, somehow in all the hooha, I missed the laptop part.

OK, just double checking, when you go to Start, Control Panel, Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices, and click on Change the Sound Scheme, what is listed in the Sound Scheme dialog box? If nothing, or if No Sounds is displayed, can you change that to Windows Default?

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN
