Default My Husband needs a new sound card

:-D Hey Guys,

I told my husband to post this question but he is shy ,

So here is a question I didn't see an answer for. He's looking for a decent (doesn't have to be amazing) sound card to beef up his system so he can justify getting these groovy new speakers.
Any ideas for the under $50 range?

Thanks appreciate any insite.

He's running XP sp1
e machine
plenty of RAM
not sure of the exact specs but if you need them I can get them.

Hiya Joe,

No, just music. He also doesn't need anything for more than two speakers if that makes any difference. The speaker set he's looking at is all tricked out with subwoofers and who knows what else, but the Most important thing is a remote that he can plug his headphones into. (go figure.)

Thanks for any help.

This part i dont really understand though , first you say not more then for two speakers but then you say he's looking at a complete surround set of speakers? (i think?)

:-D No, I think I wrote it wrong, sorry.

The speakers he has his eye on are this set, two speakers w/a subwoofer. Not one of those surround sound things w/ 6 speakers. That's what I meant.

When you think of it, let me know. I haven't been up on sound since before digital. (OK, so I'm old, sue me. LOL)

Thanks Joe,

Tj

Have a look here:

http://productsen.terratec.net/html/...undSystems.htm

from:

http://en.terratec.net/

But a simple stereo sound card doesn't have any frontpanels or remote ect. for that he has to look at the more expencive cards. Like the Aureon 7.1 Universe but that one is around $150.

PS: if its only a headphone connection that he wants upfront , some speakersets have that in the volumecontroll built in.
