:-) Hey Cherl33,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a whole staff of really great folks who are going to help you get your sound back.

I need a little information in order for our team to help you expediently. First, can you please tell us what OS you are running and what version, next can you please tell us what sound devices you have installed and lastly can you tell us what happened prior to your getting this message.

If you need instructions to any of these locations, please feel free to ask.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

:-) Thanks,

As I said before, we have a whole team of people who are going to help you get your sound back. I am betting on this being a hardware issue, and so I would like to wait for one of our hardware gurus to come online and take a look at your situation.

Then we'll go from there.

Hang in there, one of our great hardward guys will be online soon and take a look at your thread.

Hi cherl,

Attached you will find the driver you need. Download the file and extract all of the files into a new folder. Call it something that you will remember in a location you will also remember (this is important). Next you need to remove the existing soundcard. We do this via the Windows device manager.

You can open Device Manager by double-clicking on the System icon in Control Panel, and choosing the Device Manager tab. It is also accessible by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, and selecting the Device Manager tab. Look for "Sound, video and game controllers"? - locate the installed sound card, it may have a yellow exclamation point beside it (or not). Right click on it and select uninstall.

Next, re-boot your PC - During the boot procedure, Windows98 will detect the audio device and request the appropriate drivers.? Please follow the driver installation Wizard and provide the appropriate path to the driver files (the one that you remembered from earlier).
