Your log doesn't look to bad.

Do you use something called Grouper?

If not then you can remove these entries:

O4 - Startup: Grouper.lnk = C:\Program Files\Grouper\Grouper.exe
O16 - DPF: WebControlDeploy - https://grouper.com/v1/GrouperSetup.cab

You can get rid of these also:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AOL Spyware Protection] "C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\AOLSPY~1\AOLSP Scheduler.exe"
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\AOLSPY~1\AOLSP Scheduler.exe

Have you tried to install the ADI audio driver from your CD?

If that doesn't work then try the following below.

Double click on "SoundMax Intergrated Digital Audio" within Device Manager.

Click on Driver then Update driver, choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).
Then click NEXT and place a tick in "Include this location in the search and then browse to the location of the file you download. (the one Hengis provided)
Then click NEXT.

It should detect and install that driver.

yes grouper is used beteen us dj's at the station to share local band demo's(Mp3) we do promote local bands :-) seems the safest way to transport files to all of us at once the owner of the station has a group there and the only one that can upload from your or download to you are those in your group.

aol spyware protection removes or blocks spyware from your pc why remove it? C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\AOLSPY~1\AOLSP Scheduler.exe"
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\AOLSPY~1\AOLSP Scheduler.exe
this is the scheduler thats has it run once a week to check for spyware and or updates for the spyware

and yes i tried using the hp tools application recovery selecting drivers to reinstall and i choose ADI audio driver. i recieved the window that said installtion completed succesfully but SoundMax intergrated digital audio still remains in device manager under sound, video and game controllers. see file attached

Double click on "SoundMax Intergrated Digital Audio" within Device Manager.

Click on Driver then Update driver, choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).
Then click NEXT and place a tick in "Include this location in the search and then browse to the location of the file you download. (the one Hengis provided)
i tried that i put in the location desktop audio folder where in unzipped the file hengis provided the attached file will show you what drivers it gave me to choose from and that one nor the ADI was there to choose from

Alright could you choose the VIA AC'97 audio (the xp version) and install that.

This will replace the Soundmax drivers with the AC'97 audio drivers. These should replace the current drivers.

See if it helps with the sound issue.

you are not going to believe this
i uninstalled everything under Sound, vidoe and game in safe mode attachment shows after doing so the sound, video and game was not even in the device manager so you know it was all unistalled.

i rebooted and the SoundMax was being installed by windows and then i got a system has recoved from damage this picture is also attached.

i sent the report in a this page came up http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response...aaf91c5&SID=11
and as i was reading that page the error came up again system recovered from a serious crash and again i was taken to the page http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response...b2aa676&SID=10

the systen didn't crash i was in safe mode removing the drivers and restarted
now in device manager under sound, vidoe and game i have
Microsoft kernel system Audio device
Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatability
Sound Max Intergrated Digital Audio
Standard Game port
and that is all even with hidden devices shown
whew now what?
