:-) The chances are it isn't. Good for you searching for multiple programs. It could, however, very well be malware, but my bets are on some kind of software or hardware conflict.

Can you download Everest and post the specs of youre soundcard or motherboard if you have integrated sound.
Then we can see if we can find the latest drivers.
I never like using winupdate for drivers , they usually work but are also way out of date most of the time.

I have attached the correct sound drivers for your motherboard. There is a driver file and a "patch" file. Read the notes in the files for installation. You briefly mentioned Soundmax but it didn't show up on your log - could you give more details please.

You briefly mentioned Soundmax but it didn't show up on your log - could you give more details please
SoundMax was what I had and the mic wouldn't work within the Sam software it would freeze the software and then shut of the pc. SoundMax was updated by windows update to Via Ac 97' Audio control.

I unzipped the ?drivers to windows\system32 folder i hope that was right and i clicked the patch exe ang hope that was right,now when trying to play any mp3 in windows media player i get this error

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

it is not in use with another program at the time i try to play it

i can play the mp3 with musicmatch jude box but the speed up and cracking sound still there.
I can play it in Sam software also and i can use the mic but the cracking is there not a constant cracking just throught the entire sound.
the only way i can describe the sound is as if you play a vinly album lol you remember them. and they would get old and not skip but sound scracthy.

so nothing has changed ?i did a bios check at esupprt and submitted my information maybe they can help i am lost.
