:-) Great, this mystery is really starting to bug me.

I want to talk to our hardware guys, but I have never heard of a motherboard doing that.

You definitely have a strange one, it will go down in forum hystory when we figure out what the darn problem is. :lol:

I just received an error message that said the sound card could not support a .wav format while I'm still using the motherboard as my soundcard. Do you recommend any sound cards and speakers that I should be looking at. It looks like one of them is definitely done.

ehhh, not sure if this is of any help, but if the speakers have a normal 3.5mm jack like most do, you could just plug it in a discman, walkman or the headphone socket of a normal stereo ... this should test if the speakers work.

With the sound card drivers, I believe it is neccessary to uninstall all previous sound drivers when using a different device. Although you MAY be able to install both ... not sure about this but I did not think you could.

And also some motherboards require you to enable/disable onboard audio from within bios. So if you had a soundcard installed chances are this setting in bios was diabled...

Lastly, if you go to tools>options>devices of windows media player it allows you to select whcih device drives the speakers ... [not sure if this actually makes a difference ... as I have never installed 2 sound drivers together].

We have a guy on site, Merlin, who is literally a wizard about all of that stuff. I am sure that he will be online soon, if not one of our other hardware gurus will be able to better tell you about currently available soundcards. Sorry, not my area of expertise.

Thanks for all your help T and Eric. I plugged headphones into the speakers and didn't hear anything either...

Were the headphones connected to a sound source like a CD player or something?

Did you also look in the bios to see if the onboard sound was enebled as Eric asked?
The onboard sound is probebly disabled in youre bios and since you uninstalled youre pci sound card you now have no working sound card anymore , thats why you are hearing youre onboard pc speaker making those annoying beebs.
