Sorry, I know you've had a really frustrating time with this. Buying some new speakers to check out will probably be less expensive than a new sound card, also, if you have anything else that has a sound out jack you may be able to test the speakers, you know like a radio or boombox, sometimes even small televisions will fit basic speakers.

Thanks for all your help T. How can I switch my sound card to the one on the motherboard so i can plug my speakers into that to test if they're ok?

:-D If you click on the gremlins they get bigger, lol

Thought you might enjoy a chuckle.

The output jack for your sound card should be on a different PCI slot than the one that originally came with the PC. If you look at the formation of the back of your PC where everything is plugged in, there should be another set of audio out and audio in jacks.

Let me know if they're not there.

i def see the other PCI slots. Do I have to change any settings on my computer for the speakers to play music. I know in the past I have mistakingly plugged my speakers into the the motherboard and havent heard anything out of them.

:-) It really depends on where the computer is told to look for the sound, if it is look to the motherboard, the sound plays, as long as that is where the speakers are pluged in.

If it's looking for the speakers in the motherboard, and the speakers are in the sound card... No Sound.

Thanks T. Is there an option on my computer that allows me to let the motherboard look for the speakers?
