First, I'd like to start with a question. Is the Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker (*link at bottom) worth buying? I want quality sound, right now I have gateway speakers, and a sound card that came with my pc. Also, I'd like to know if these speakers will work with my PC. Heres my Direct X report:
Also, does anyone have recommendations on a sound card? Or is the one I have now fine?

Welcome to PCHF.
Your sound card - Realtek AC97 Audio - isn't exactly cutting edge but it is ok. Could you please post your exact motherboard make/model OR your PC make/model, thanks.

Your soundcard will have no problem playing 5.1 thru those speakers. If I were you, I would test drive them first as I fear that the sound will be fairly "tinny" - altho, you could hook 'em up to a decent (budget) PCI graphics card: http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=...gy+2&scoring=p

I was lookign through audio cards earlier and I thought the Audigy 2z looked nice, had good comments, etc...So, I'm thinking about getting that, once I get these speakers, depending on how good it sounds. Also, where can I get the best deal on these speakers? Don't say froogle plz, looking for personal opinion. Or a suggestion on another speaker set for around the same price range that's better?
Thanks for all the help. |

As you're in the States, a lot of people round here swear by tigerdirect.com and newegg.com. You could also buy off of EBay, from a well respected seller of course.
I think the speakers you have chosen look pretty good, I have seen a few reviews and they come out well. For the price, I don't think you could buy a hell of a lot better.

I would recomend http://www.digitalhome.com.au/HomeEn...20_Speakers/72
If u have a sams club near you they sell them. i got mine for 49.90 there and if u dont like the way they sound after 3 months or whatever they dont care when u return it, u dont even need the recepit. I have them connected to a sound blaster live 24 bit and they sound amazing. The sub is extreemly powerfull but also maintains a clean push.
