MSI Computers - Thoughts/Opinions

Hi Everyone,

I am starting to look into getting a new laptop and I was wondering what your thoughts are on the MSi brand of computers? The 17" laptop I found has the following basic specs and is under $800.
MSI GX730-043US Notebook PC - AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core 2.0GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, 17" WXGA+, Vista Home Premium

Any comments on this brand of computer would be welcomed and I have never heard of it before.

MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more
I just googled around and found it
Lots of info about the laptop if you haven't already seen it.

Well on the MSI site it's classed as a gaming machine although I'm not convinced.

The support looks decent though so why not.

Personally I'd go for a Dell or a HP box.

Thank you for your comments. I have taken a look at some comments on TigerDirect.ca for this laptop and some are saying that it runs really hot. That is a bit concerning to me. I will definitely be doing some comparisons against Dell and HP.

Is $800 your max budget?

I can go a bit higher for the computer than $800. (i.e. up to the $1000 mark plus taxes) I have an older PC at home that is hooked up to a TV and is still running okay, but I want to get a fast, reliable laptop, preferably with a good size screen that I can use wherever I want. If it has an HDMI port, that would be a bonus, but I am most interested in having a good processor and lots of RAM.
