Parts are either already owned or arriving on Christmas (as my dad was so dead-set on getting everything right that he had me guide him through it... bless him ).

Will definitely be getting Vista Ultimate sometime for this. There's a family rumor going around that I might get the 32-bit OEM of Vista Ultimate for Christmas. If that's the case I'll exchange for 64-bit (there's a reason I picked a board that can go to 8GB! Can't blame average people for getting something trivial like that wrong, though. ), and I'll run Ubuntu or something until the 64-bit (which I'll overnight if these family rumors are true) gets here.

As for a HDD, I have a 250GB IDE one in an external enclosure I might put in and use, if I don't get enough Christmas cash to get this:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

You higher-ups who know more about building than me, can you please tell me if my 400W PSU is too severely underpowered for the aforementioned rig? I'll be getting this eventually:

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply 100 - 240 V - Retail
Newegg.com - OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply 100 - 240 V - Retail

But I'd like to put that off until after I upgrade my RAM to the full 8GB which would be (all 8 at once) around $170.00 USD and therefore more expensive. I used a PSU calculator and it said I needed 300W, but I'm not sure that was so accurate. Can someone shed light on that?

I have almost all the parts and am getting the rest on Christmas. So... this 15-year-old has managed. xD;;

I'm no expert but I would have thought a 400w Power Supply Unit would have lacked sufficient power, to the best of my knowlegde the nVidia 8 series are power hungry cards, that 700W you mentioned would probably be a good idea mate.

Nice rig though

That's precisely why I asked. I'll be using more PSU Calculators tonight and probably averaging their results. So far I've tried 2 and both said 400W would be sufficient for my build under 100% load, which I'm personally not buying in the first place (under 100% load, if it only required 400W then the 700W+ PSUs wouldn't exist). I just was curious if I could slink by on that one I've got now. I guess I'll HAVE to live with it for a little while, since I absolutely, definitely need that HDD before I upgrade the PSU. Oy, vey. I just want to be sure that if I even try to use the 400W that the whole rig won't get blown!
