I'm no expert but I would have thought a 400w Power Supply Unit would have lacked sufficient power, to the best of my knowlegde the nVidia 8 series are power hungry cards, that 700W you mentioned would probably be a good idea mate.
Nice rig though

That's precisely why I asked. I'll be using more Power Supply Unit Calculators tonight and probably averaging their results. So far I've tried 2 and both said 400W would be sufficient for my build under 100% load, which I'm personally not buying in the first place (under 100% load, if it only required 400W then the 700W+ PSUs wouldn't exist). I just was curious if I could slink by on that one I've got now. I guess I'll HAVE to live with it for a little while, since I absolutely, definitely need that HDD before I upgrade the PSU. Oy, vey. I just want to be sure that if I even try to use the 400W that the whole rig won't get blown!

As long as what I have can handle something of Unreal Tournament 3 caliber (which it can, as the benchmark on my card for that game was spectacular), I'm fine with it. I don't need a 9-series GPU, because no matter what it will be better than this ATI X300.

Re: Rodents210's Awesome Build of Awesomeness
I usually take what the calc comes up with --and add at least 100W to that number-- for future upgrades...more for a gaming rig. When you will push your hardware to the limit all the time-- why take chances ?
Strong build now equals longer overall life, better performance, longer time between upgrades.

Re: Rodents210's Awesome Build of Awesomeness
eXtreme Outer Vision - eXtreme tools for computer enthusiasts
339W Result + 100W = 439W. Ouch.
Newegg - Power Supply Calculator
479W Result + 100W = 579W. Oucher.
I just tried those on top of the ones that were giving me low 300s (like around the 305 mark), and now I feel like I won't be able to run my build at all until I get my "final" Power Supply Unit.
