Default Going Intel

Ok after years of being called an AMD fan boy lol I am now turning to the dark side

For you with Core Duos what do you really think?

I am doing this because AMD has disappointed me for the last time (not waiting for the phenoms either) I bought this 6000+ and yes it was cheap but my prior chip a 4200+ over clocked to 2.8 ghz scored a little higher than this chip overclocked @ 3.5 ghz. They are just throwing chips out but not putting anything in them. I mean 90nm tech is dead now but they keep going on them. Intel is going 35 nm tech next month..

I was thinking of getting the 6800 quad extreme with the 1066 fsb instead of the 1033
I have around 3700 to blow. But want some real life people saying what thewy really think of the Intel side.

Like my AMD 6000+ scores around 21k on a cpu test.(thats overclocked) While the CD's score around 28k without OCing.. The quads score 48 to 54k without ocing..

Now the 6850 is 1k and the new one coming out next month is going to be around the same. Only thinking quad because I do not want to upgrade again for a couple years. (thats what I told the wife at least)

So how are you Core duops doing for you..?

I too was AMD all the way..then I took a flier on my Core Duo. To be honest, due to the performance and software support, I won't be going back to AMD for quite a while.

We all know how this plays out over time tho' and it won't be long before AMD come up with something to sway it in their favour once again.

When i was looking to buy my current PC, i was going to go with AMD single core (this was when dual core was very expensive). But Intel C2D came around and I had to go for it as it was better.

I only have one of the low end c2d's but it works well and i hear it clocks very well. I heard of someone who got the E6300 to 4ghz on air

Yes CD do overclock well. I know the 6600 was oc'd to 4.5 (not on air though) I do not like water cooling as water and my motherboard do not go together lol..

That is why I wanted to get a quad.. cause I am a hardcore overclocker and run in contest's etc..
Amd is realizing the Phenom which is a 3 core cpu but I am sorry AMD they just disappointed me with this last purchase.
Thanks for your guys input..
