Default Building computer

I've been looking through these parts with a friend of mine and i'm wondering what you all think. I'm not sure if i'm missing any parts or if maybe i'm including something I shouldn't, or something is incompatible, but here is everything.

I'll probably be ordering it next week.

Newegg.com - RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black SECC STEEL ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Retail

Newegg.com - MSI K9N SLI Platinum Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM ATAPI/E-IDE CD Burner - OEM

Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DH-16D2P-08 - Retail

Newegg.com - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - OEM

Newegg.com - CABLES UNLIMITED SATA cable: 18" Serial ATA Right Angle Cable Kit Model FLT-6100-KIT - Retail

Newegg.com - Linkworld LK7010A-C2222-PSII Black 108 Normal Keys PS/2 Slim Keyboard - Retail

I'm also having some concern about the power supply. On the page for the case it says "500W Power Supply" but i'm not sure if that means it comes with the power supply or if it is compatible with a 500W power supply. Also i'm not sure if it comes with cooling fans or i'm going to need to buy them.

Also I have the additional parts (mouse, speakers, monitor, etc.) all here.

After looking at the parts you might be thinking that this is too over the top, but I do a hell of a lot of gaming and multitasking and I need a VERY good computer as i've been wanting a new once for a very long time now like you wouldn't believe.

Hi echostrider...i completely believe the needing a new computer

The case is nice - and does come with a power supply. But I'd strongley recommend you follow the PSU Calculator link in my signiture and enter in all the details - this will tell you if the 500watt power supply will be enough...I recommend getting a different one, instead of using the case one...which I see you're doing. Just ensure 550watt is enough Add about 30% ontop of the total that it gives you.

Any particular reason you're getting a DVD-ROM and a CD burner as 2 seperate units? Just get the 1 DVD burner...costs the same and works perfectly fine.
Less clutter inside the case = better cooling

SATA cables come with the motherboard. And that keyboard...I'd suggest any logitech keyboard. As 1 gamer to another...keyboards and mice matter. Logitech do really good gaming keyboards, even if you don't get a G series...the other ranges are still better then the cheap keyboards that area around.

Thanks for the response, GaRHaR.

I tried the Power Supply calculator but I couldnt figure out what half of the stuff meant (not completely tech saavy but I do know a lot about parts). It was driving me nuts so I decided to just forget about it. Do you think 550 will be enough though?

I'm used to how our other computer is, it has a burning drive and just a normal CD ROM drive. I just want to have two seperate ones, dont ask.

Also I think i'll get this keyboard.

Thank you for the advice

That's a nice keyboard I used to have the black version.

I understand what you mean about the drives...i used to have 3. 1 for burning cds, 1 for burning dvds and 1 for reading both...figured the laser woudl last longer...but it's just way too much hassle, and it doesn't give you any benefit...can also slow the computer down...

I've gone and entered all your computer bits into the PSU Calc...added 30% ontop, and you want to get a PSU that can handle 516watts.

This however, includes a second video card as to what you have listed above (SLI), a PCI sound card with a front controller, 3 LED fans, a fan controller and a cold cathode light.

You've got enough power and room to play a tiny bit

How about cooling fans? Do I need to buy additional ones?

Nah, i've seen that case before...it's normally pretty good

Just make sure you keep your cables neat and away from the fans...you'll be fine
