Default check out my hot pc

hi all,

Thought id showcase my beast:

CPU: AMD Athlon 2400xp (about a year old)

Mobo: Asrock nf-2 ultra (about 6 months old)

rest of stuff is at least 3 years old and some parts more.

Memory: 2x256 generic 333ddr 1x 512 generic 333ddr (used to have an abit motherboard so fancy expensive memory didnt matter)

HDD's: 40gb WD caviar ATA-133 120gb Samsung Spinpoint ATA-133

Optical drives: random cdrw/random dvdrw (cant be bothered checking)

Case: i can tell you it cost 35 quid when i got my first pentium 2 300

Mouse: logitech mouseman dual optical (2 years of warranty left)

Mousemat: everglide giganta optical (big slab of plastic)

Keyboard: at 6quid a go i just replce em every 6 months as standard

PSU: sweex 400watt cheapness

as u can see my stats make ur eyes weep, not of jealousy just pity.

I used to be into gaming in a big way and since i havent found any game better than quake 3, ive never seen any point in upgrading.
But this all changes in about a month and a half when ET:QW comes out cos i enjoy the teamplay aspect of ET but it will be combined with stroggs and RAILGUNS therefore making it instantly infinitely better
So on that thought ive got a ABIT IN-9, 2x asus en7600gt, 300gb seagate SATA-II and im thinking on core 2 duo 6700 with 2 gigs of corsair or something similar and a nice psu with apfc, the gfx might change by the time ET:QW comes out just gotta see how everyone else finds it.

Good Game!!

My proposal is as follows considering that such a system would cost about 600-700 pounds tower only is as follows
E6600 cz its also 4mb cache ( no real performance difference in 266 mhz)
2gb of brand 800mhz ram
Nvidia mobo like 590 or 650sli (to have the option to sli your cards later on)
two 200gb or 160 hdd's in raid 0 ( not much more expensive than single 300gb)
a 7800gt is much better at close price
a good psu is allways needed so i'd suggegt not getting a generic one prefer branded psu's cz all the pc depends on it

case is up to you!!!!!!

well the bits previous to thinking i already own and are sitting in front of me here (motherboard bein a 680sli), after thinking is just the bits ive gotta decide on. money is here just too many choices also RAID0 great performance but im a fan of having computer bits work for the money i paid out for them over an extended period of time so the reliability of a single large drive with an IDE one for data should see that happen with not too much of a performance hit.
