I just made a purchase of a high-end PC and have a couple questions for anyone who knows. The computer I just bought has a AMD quad FX platform FX 72 CPU, with 2GB's of PC6400 DDR2/800 dual channel mem. Corsair XMS2 Xtreme memory, a Creative Labs X-FI Xtreme Gamer 24bit PCI sound card, PPU- ASUS physX p1 card 128MB PCI card and Dual Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX's 768MB 16X PCI express EVGA. I heard that the 8800 GTX's are 11 inches long, and the PhysX card will not fit with the X-FI Xtreme Gamer 24bit sound card all together. Is this true for all setups or is this config. possible as it was to buy it from my manufactuer???
If you've ordered this computer from the one place and they're putting it together for you - you've got nothing to worry about. They will either make it all fit, or not charge you for everything that won't fit.
I hope you're going to run Windows XP with that beast - as nVidia hasn't released SLI capable drivers for Vista yet. Also - make sure you have the latest Ageia PhysX card drivers - as the first set of drivers reduced performance of most games that supported it.
Also - I've heard many many complaints about the X-Fi...game or music...apparantly it's a bit of a flop. I haven't heard it personally so i wouldn't know...
