Question Wanna Upgrade...but not sure to what!!

I am using a 3 year old technology ASUS mother boart, an AMD 2800 Barton CPU, 1 Gig of 166 memory and an ATI 9800 video board.

Would like to upgrade, but only have between $700-900 bucks to spend. I have been hunting to try to determine the best cost/benefit items to buy, but am totally lost.

Any ideas? :o

Hi --welcome to PCHF. in order to help we need more data.
Asus Mobo -- what EXACT model-- three years old is not that bad-- but we need to know chipset/compatible CPU/RAM /How much+how fast your MAX ram is. Easiest way to do that is mobo model no. If your mobo's up to it-- we could go with a CPU+Ram upgrade... with maybe a later upgrade of video card.

ih8bills is correct. Your current computer is not bad but it's not good.

Depending on what you use your computer for also determins what kind of upgrades we can recommend.

Hi Cyber_hawke, just wondering if we can get an update on your status regarding this?
