I am not really into games or overclocking, i want quiet, silent, don't know computer is on, operation !!!!!!
Antec Sonata case ($$$$ but not as pricey as the one I wanted to get

)
intel P4 3.0Ghz prescott processor
Geil DDR400 512MB
RAM [Dual Channel] (4-8-4-4, ha ha budget)
36Gb WD raptor [is it actually any faster?]
DUAL 19" monitors [both CRT, got a cheap second hand one off ebay]
Jetway Ge-force FX 5200 AGP card [regretted paying actual money for this]
TV Card
logitech mx500 mouse [I really wanted a corded version of the mx1000 though]
And the usual DVD Burner, DVD reader, Floppy Drive, 80Gb WD 7200rpm.
Mods
Zalman 7000 full copper
cpu cooler, was going to get the 7700 but it wouldn't fit in my case.
Made my own rheobus: A little over enthusiastic at this stage ... maybe :-P
- dismantled/desoldered zalman controller so that I could make it look like it is part of the rheobus

- 2 other varable resistors, with 2 switches:
- on/off switch so that one can be turned off OR let it be controlled be the variable resistor [this is for intake fan]
- The other lets me control the exhaust fan OR I can use the antec's power supply automatic fan speed controller
The Zalman at low speed is now the loudest component in my computer ... it is NOT as quiet as the reviews I have read make it out to be ... I was actually quite dissapointed, but it was still quieter than the stock fan. And its also the best dust collector in the system :-).
Future additions
- RAID if I can ever get this stupid raid card to work.
- Low Latency
RAM. I was going to buy this initially but the reviews I read said it had negligiable noticable difference if not over clocking so I went the cheaper option ... still thinking about it, very pricey.
- New video card so I can play NFSU with full video settings.
- That Zalman silent water cooler tower thingy. I am still a bit weary of water and computer though ...
- fanless power supply, but I have heard they produce a small whine and judging by the guys review on how quiet the zalman cooler was it is probably quite a loud whine.
Any thoughts or suggestions to make it even quieter?
