Default Norton or no?

Hey everybody, my trial subscription of Norton that came on my computer ran out and I was wondering if I should get Norton again or if one of the others would be better. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to PCHF!

This is a matter of opinion. Personally, I would get Comodo firewall and AVG Anti-Virus (both free) and uninstall Norton. It is a fact, that Norton is a memory hog. It takes up a lot of RAM. AVG and Comodo will work fine for a normal user and they are free.

Comodo Download

AVG Free Download

Thanks,
Adam

Im using the same as EA, good choice. Works well and doesn't take up much resources. I switched to Comodo from Zonealarm, simply because ZA didn't work too well on Vista (it seemed), but really like Comodo now

Zone Alarm turns into a Trojan if you try to uninstall it, so I hope you uninstalled it correctly & carefully. I know this because I used to use it. Though If enough people whined about that it might have been changed/patched.

Now I do not use a firewall anymore. My network router's built in firewall is very powerful.

I've found that Norton have improved greatly over the last year or so.
*Prepares to be flamed* . lol

You need to hurry with this.....
Kaspersky !! good offers until 27th December = 50% off.

Buy Antivirus & Antispyware Software for your Home Computer or Laptop

Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 is highly recommended

I heard the latest versions use less memory but still wouldn't touch it. Costs quite a bit too, if I was to buy AV it would be NOD32 for me

lol i used to use Kaspersky full version but switched to Nod32 coz it apparently has a better virus signature base, lol...
i use ZoneAlarm Pro firewall and i've never had any problems with it, even when uninstalling....

i haven't tried Comodo firewall yet, but if ZoneAlarm Pro annoys me ill switch to that lol

thnx, Ash
