Actually, it really depends on when you purchase Norton when it comes to the price. You can get really good deals on Norton Products when you local tech store is having a sale.
For example, I got my Norton Internet Security 2007 for free after mail in rebate i think about 3 months ago from my local Fry's.
haha just my two cents hope it helps

Hey People ! You guys forgot to tell this poor fellow that he will have to download the uninstall tool from Norton's site in order to make a complete uninstall.
I have AVG free and McAfee firewall (stand alone) on XP.

FLASHORN.

My advice is to steer clear of Norton and install a free anti-virus such as AVG. I used to recommend Avira, but then I got sick of the annoying advertisements that kept popping up, even though the product itself does a more effective job than any other free anti-virus and includes spyware protection. These days I don't use an anti-virus, just good old Winpatrol, but AVG would be top of my list if I decide to install another one at any time.

As for a firewall, it's got to be Sygate personal (also free), does a most effective job while taking up minimal resources, is simple to use and isn't intrusive.

Also check out Avast!, another good free anti-virus solution. If you are going to pay for security, then go for something like NOD32, or Eset's security suite.
