I've never used it personally-- but it seems to get decent marks-- and I found no negatives via Google

Prevx is a HIP (Host-Based Intrusion Prevention) product that many use and trust.

Let us know your experiences with Prevx if you do install it.

I use a combination...
Spybot Search and Destroy (free)
Adaware Pro (paid)
Panda internet security has an antispyware component. (paid)
The reason for this is that sometimes one will catch what the other misses.
Regular cache cleanings-- and never click on attachments without scanning first-- and those only from people I know/trust.
I also use Spyware Blaster (free)-- blocks spyware installation

Similar products?
Well there's also Process Guard, PC Tools ThreatFire, etc.

Also are you aware of any conflics with other spyware, virus scanners, firewall issues
I can't really commment on specific conflicts, because they vary from combination to combination, system to system.

The general thumb of rule is that you can only have a single anti-virus program and firewall running at the same time.

There have been few reports of multiple anti-spyware programs causing conflicts, so it should be fine.

Do note that you can also have multiple anti-virus programs on your computer, but you can have only one running actively at a single time.

In my opinion you have plenty already-- 6 apps doing one job (spyware) + antivirus+firewall is probably overkill...if it works for now leave it alone. You probably won't gain anything-- and in fact --at this level ...might begin to see conflicts.

There's a lot of nasty stuff out there-- a multi-pronged approach is the best way (to me)--but don't go overboard either.

I've seen users come in here with "slow PC" complaints... and when they post a HJT log-- they have 3 anti-viruses-- all running at once.
No spyware-- just those AV's all interfering with each other

Hey Chiaz! Thank you for those suggestions. I did review both products and to tell you the truth, they "seem" to do what D.E.P. is already doing. Will be investigating further. My machine "so far" has no conflics even with D.E.P. turned on,and only one of each is active at any given time (learned that the hard way).If I decide on any one of them I will let you know the outcome.Again Thank You for taking the time to discuss this matter with me.

Hey ih8bills! Yes you are most likely right. But am so affraid of losing any of my data that I " might " be a little paranoid.I do have a external hardrive to back up my data(500 gig). But just thinking of the effort it would take to recoup all of it is horrible, not to mention the loss of time. And yes only one is a full time sheilds and antivirus. So far no conflics and machine is still lightning fast.I would like to Thank You for time and advice spent on this subject.I also hope that other members having the same querry are following this thread as it might solve there questions.Again Thank You.
