Dear PCHF, I have a 14 year old son that sometimes gets access to a PC without supervision. It runs MS Windows XP Home and has a broadband internet connection. I have tried restricting his internet connection but this also stops him using some websites that I feel are appropriate. I have come to the conclusion that I need a key logger and internet monitorting programme so that I can still give him an element of trust, but also see where he has been. This way I can allow him to breathe, but restrict each site by site that I don't feel he should be visiting. I don't want to restrict the sites inside my internet options as this will not allow me to see if he has been msn messeging internet pervs and stuff.

Do you know of any free software that will allow me to do the above?

It won't be pretty if your kid does find out about it though. I know I won't be if it were me. I think what's most important here is actual communication. Just my 2 cents.

Also be careful if you are using this software that your security software knows what it is and it is put into an exception list
