Cool [Answered] Several restore points gone

Hi,

I have previously made several restore points after having got rid of a keylogger, I am certain that it has now gone and that my system is clean because I have been scanning with loads of scanners-all of which find nothing. I hadn't made a restore point in about 1-2weeks, I went to make one today and I found that the others had gone and were not there anymore. So I made another, I'm just hoping that this one will stay there untill next time. I may have run Personal backup C:\WINDOWS\SMINST before I found that the restores were gone, I did this just to see what it was, it created another drive called I in my computer, however on next boot it had gone. I have no Idea what that personal backup was but I think it may have made those restore points go.
I would appreciate it if anyone knows any information about this?

Thanks, Jake

Could you follow these steps and tell me what the size of your space allowed for Restore is. It could be it got too low and ran out of room. Didn't you have to flush all the restore points - valis told you too.

1. Control Panel
2. Classic View
3. System
4. System Restore tab.
5. Grab the number under disk space usage for us.

Chris

The full 12% 17850mb for it. And yesa I had prevoiusly flushed restore points, but the ones that I made afterwards were the ones that went. By the way is Ad Muncher a safe program to install?

Thanks, Jake

Ad muncher should be safe but i have never used it before.

How long ago were the restore points because even with that space, you cant get all restore points from ages ago etc.

There must of been about 4-5 about 2 weeks ago- I looked two days ago to make another and there were none there, and I hadn't flushed again.
I had before used ccleaner for deleting old prefetch data and windows log files. I had also done everything on ATF cleaner before I found the points were gone.
Hope this helps
Today I found the restore point I made yesterday and it was there

Thanks, Jake
