Default Can someone help me?

I have literally been losing sleep over some fears regarding my computer's safety and I really need some answers to my questions.
I'm not sure how to ask this, but how can I tell if something is wrong with my PC (laptop)? I have the latest versions of SpySweeper and Norton Antivirus/Internet Security, both of which say my system is fine. But other programs DO detect things like Hitbox and DyFuCa. And what with the stuff I keep reading, scary stuff like worms, my safety programs getting infected themselves, I am not sure what to believe. I have been onto porn sites with my computer over the last year or two, and Norton has blocked some intrusions. Is it possible that some undetected threats are on my system, or it really didn't block the intrusion?
I do experience some odd things, like slowdown and noise, and sometimes I can't right-click until an explorer window is closed.
I use my computer to write stories, that I hope to publish, but I fear that a hacker may be looking at them, and possibly steal them. Is this paranoia, or a real possibility?
Please help if you can.
And please, don't make fun of me. I have OCD, and am well aware of my paranoia.

You already have Windows Explorer.. It is part of the operating system...

Open "my computer" and click tools and the top... Then click on folder options.. There you will see the little circles to uncheck hide protected files and such

I am sorry, but these downloads are taking way too long, and are just adding to my anxiety. All I really wnat to know is if it is a good idea to continue working on this computer, or to get another one.
