Hey guys

A cousin of mine finally convinced his parents to get the internet. It should save him the hassle of being restricted to going on it at school or at friends houses only. There's just one problem though, I've warned him about the dangers of going online without security precautions put in place in the form of a firewall and antivirus. And he has no knowledge in this area at all. I see him as one of those that will download all sorts. His usual PC is in repairs, and will be for the next month or so, and I borrowed him an old laptop until then. This old laptop hasn't the greatest of specs, 64 MB ram, 5 gig HD, etc etc..I'm pretty sure that running mutliple programs at once would slow it down considerably (as I've found out), and seeing as he'll probably need a firewall, antivirus, antispyware etc etc...I thought I would see if anyone could help me and him out by recommending the smallest, effective freeware programs available, that will save him precious memory to do what ever else it is he enjoys doing. They don't need to be anything special, just use up as little resources as possible and do an adequate job of providing protection in the critical areas.

I'm not much of an expert in this area, and usually stuck for options myself. Thanks in advance!
