Hi guys,
I live in Manchester and recently got in touch with a local computer repairs company called Help Me Fix It, after the kids managed to get viruses on both the family pc and laptopL
I rang the company, who fixed my computer remotely online for free (the first call is free). However, their pc repair technician told me that I would either have to pay £40 or purchase a home computer repair package to get my laptop fixed.
They have 3 different computer repair packages and I don’t know whether these are worth purchasing and if so, which one is the most value for money.
Could any of you techie guys advise me on what to do please?
The address for the site is http://www.helpmefixit.co.uk/ and the link to compare their home it packages is at [broken link removed]
Thanks in advance!

Samward,
I can say with confidence that we have the best staff of anywhere . The volunteer staff here are in most cases better than the paid IT Staff I associate with on a daily basis. While their support may be great in some cases why pay for something when you can get it free right here? Our Security Team is second to none, and we have a dedicated Staff team all around

Agree with Crush that this site has people that will assist with repairs. Another site to consider is malwareremoval.com. I had a bad infection a few years back and within a few emails back and forth with direction I was good as new. the first thing you'll need to do is run Hijackthis and post the log so both this site (and the other mentioned) can see whats running on your PC. You can google the download.

Sam,
To be honest I don't think its worth it. But then I have a bad opinion of local repair shops and even the larger PC companies... But I would be wary of anyone trying to sell you a generic 'computer repair kit'. No software package or company can do anything you can't do yourself, as long as you have the knowledge. Software problems such as virus infections are quite easy to fix. If the problem was hardware like a cracked laptop screen that needed replacing, then I'd take it to an expert. Also...parts of their website aren't working...so how professional can they be? Their prices are too high IMO and besides you can get it fixed for free here ![]() Just post here or make another thread and someone will be happy to help. |
