I was fiddling with things and decided to press the "reset CMOS" button on my mobo -- why not, right? Well, it launched my BIOS, I set stuff up and launched with my last known good configuration and it appears to be running fine. I'll post again if this results in some sort of terrible world-ending error.

Hey, I've got the same X58 board and generally the onboard LEDs will display a CPU temp if everything is "fully functional" (unless you disabled it in the BIOS I suppose). Glad to hear everything's working.
